Japan Travel Blog: Day 6 - Shopping @ Shinjuku & Harajuku

The hotel we stayed do not include breakfast and hence we ordered a la carte from the menu rather than a full buffet breakfast.

We have simple breakfast which consist of toast...

...and fried eggs with bacon. This is enough to fill up our tummy, and it cost half of the buffet breakfast price.

After breakfast it was time to head out for some shopping. Metropolitan Hotel was only walking distance to Ikeburukoro station. :) We proceed buying our Suica card from the machine.

Useful to have the card while traveling around Tokyo.
If you run out of credit you just need to top it up.

Took the Yamanote Line to Shinjuku.

It was quite confusing taking the train for the first time but you will get around just fine as signage was available. If you're not sure, just approach one of the staff and they will guide you to the right track.

When we arrived at the Shinjuku station, we weren't sure where to go about or which exit to take so we ended choosing a random exit instead.

This is what we see when we walked out from the station. The sky was pretty cloudy when we came out, so it was going to be another not so good weather again.

Found Uniqlo by chance and decided to shop here.

Look at the number of floors they have here. You can literally spend hours here, although its not entirely all clothes. We only spend an hour or two here before we head off to look for lunch.

Cute Ice-Cream vending machine.
Too bad we don't have this back home.

We walked around and ended up in a shopping mall adjacent to the JR Station and Metro. Floors 7 & 8 Dinner are basically eatery shops. Went to one random restaurant for lunch.

Their food display look so realistic.

Some random picture I took while waiting:-
Random container on the table.
Great concept to put your coat and bags in the basket.
Hot tea on a cold day.

Fish soup and salad rice set for Dad...

...while mum and I have the eel egg rice set.

The jug that comes with the set is actually soup, which suppose to mixed with the rice. So sweet and tasty.

The lunch came close to RM130 for 3 sets. A bit pricey but the food was delicious and we enjoyed our meal here. If you ever come here do drop by at this restaurant to try it out.

After lunch my parent head back to the hotel, while I head down to Harujuka.

Didn't go to Takeshita Dori (Takeshita Street) since I was heading to one particular shop. Looking for that particular shop was a bit tricky since the map from their site looks nearer. *Came across number of unique shops and malls along the way though.

The shop I was looking for its non other than Kiddy Land. Everything cute and undeniably kawaii can be found here. This is defiantly my kind of place to go.

At Kiddy Land, you can find all-in-one souvenir shop where all your fandoms and kawaii characters collide. I spent so much time here that the sky was dark when I walk out from the shop. Didn't get to go to Meiji Jingu Shrine since the shrine is only open from sunrise to sunset. With that, I head back to the hotel to join my parent for dinner.

We went to a random restaurant for our dinner which was near our hotel. The restaurant is actually right across of Metropolitan Plaza. *Bottom right pic is what we see when standing in front of the restaurant.

This restaurant looks pretty fancy, and the waitress here all wears kimono.

This is where we sit. Thankfully it's not those where you have to cross your legs .

We ordered four rice sets. The other rice set was shared among us since we find it a bit too small.

Assorted Sashimi; sweet and fresh. I personally love the presentation and details put into presenting this dish to us.

Stone-grilled Wagyu Beef Sirloin; tender and juicy.
Its so good that we wished the meat was bigger and thicker.

Braised Pork Belly. The meat is super soft and tender, and the sauce brings out the flavour from the pork and it taste great when we mixed it with the rice. I wished we know the sauce recipe cause it's so good!

Grilled Jidori Chicken with salt. Meat is tender and juicy while the skin is crispy. Tasted average but still good.

Total bill came up close to RM480! Guess we went overboard ordering too much but it was actually just nice cause the portion is quite small. Pricing is a bit steep but then again the food here is really good.

Back in the hotel we have cream puff for desserts. When my parent came back to Ikeburukoro they went to one of the mall nearby and bought cream puffs  to try. Taste wise? Super oishi! The cream puff is so soft and creamy! Argh, I don't think I can find any of these back home after trying it here.
